In Seminyak the wall is never just a wall — it is the background of ten thousand photographs. Boutiques off Jalan Kayu Aya want surfaces that read expensive at arm’s length; villas around Petitenget and Jalan Drupadi sell nights on the strength of their interiors. This is where decorative plaster earns its price: genuine Venetian systems from IDR 420,000/m², with a depth flat paint cannot fake, polished to the sheen the designer chose. Feature walls start with samples — we bring boards in two or three tones and view them in the room’s own light, morning and evening, because Venetian shifts with the sun. Where paint is the right call, it is the top of the range: dead-flat whites over skim-coated walls, because gallery lighting is merciless to a wavy surface. Bathrooms and pool-adjacent walls get waterproof decorative systems instead of classic Venetian — the same look in a different chemistry, built to survive the splash zone.

Retail and restaurant deadlines

Seminyak fit-outs run backwards from an opening party. The landlord hands over late, the palette changes twice, and the date does not move — we know the rhythm and staff for it. Skim, decorative and paint crews overlap in a sequence we control, night shifts cover what daytime cannot, and we hold a finishing buffer for the wall the photographer will face first. A typical boutique interior of 150–250 m² of wall fits into ten to fourteen working days including decorative passes; we have compressed it to a week with double crews when the opening was immovable. Restaurants get scrubbable systems in service corridors and the drama finishes in the dining room — beauty where it is seen, armour where it is hit. The snag walk happens with the designer, at night, under the lighting scheme that will actually run.

Working in occupied villas

Half our Seminyak work happens in villas that never stop earning. Managers call between bookings: three days to refresh the master suite, a feature wall before a wedding party checks in, a full repaint spread across low-season gaps. We plan by the booking calendar, protect the house as if a photoshoot were tomorrow — it usually is — and leave no trace: low-odour paints, sealed sanding, rubbish gone the same evening. The rule we work to is simple: by six each evening the villa must photograph as finished, even mid-project. Villa staff get one contact, our foreman, so nothing lands on the guests.
