Wall Plastering & Exterior Render in Uluwatu
The Bukit is beautiful and brutal — salt wind straight off the Indian Ocean, sun with no mercy, and villas perched where materials arrive down a cliff path. We render and finish exteriors in Uluwatu that are built for that fight, and we plan the logistics before we quote.

Render that faces the ocean
Uluwatu exteriors live in the harshest conditions on our map. Salt wind comes off the ocean loaded and constant, UV on the Bukit’s treeless ridges is savage, and rain — when it finally arrives — hits walls that have been baking for months. Standard render survives that; standard paint does not. Our exterior spec here leans on flexible, salt-tolerant systems: properly cured render (Bukit wind dries it too fast, so exposed faces get mist-cured), elastomeric or high-grade acrylic topcoats, and extra attention at parapets and window heads where wind-driven rain gets in. Last dry season we re-rendered a terrace wall above Suluban that had been repainted three times in four years — the render was fine; the paint system never stood a chance.
Cliff logistics, priced honestly
Half of building on the Bukit is getting things down the hill. Villas above Bingin and Padang-Padang are reached by stairs; some Uluwatu sites take materials the last hundred metres by hand, sack by sack. We do not bury that in a fat contingency — we walk the route on the site visit, count the carry and put access as its own line in the quote. Mixing happens in small batches near the work, scaffold sections are chosen for what two men can manage on a cliff path, and deliveries land early, before the heat. Water is the quiet cost up here: the Bukit has little of it, and render needs it to cure, so we plan water for misting the same way we plan sand and cement. It is slower than a drive-up site in Canggu, and we schedule that truth instead of promising coastal speed and missing the date.
Sun, salt and the long game
The Bukit teaches maintenance thinking. Salt crystallises inside microscopic paint defects and levers coatings off; UV chalks cheap paint in two seasons. So we finish Uluwatu villas with the repaint cycle in mind — colours that fade gracefully, systems that recoat without stripping, and a note in your file on what went where, so the next repaint is a refresh rather than an archaeology project. Surf villas that rent year-round get the same room-by-room scheduling we run on the coast; nobody cancels bookings for paint. Interiors up here are easier company — skim and paint behave normally out of the wind — so we sequence exterior faces around the gusts and keep the interior crew moving regardless. Rates match the rest of the island — see pricing — with access costed separately and shown, not smuggled into the m² rate. And if a young facade is already cracking, our crack repair page explains the triage before anyone sells you a full re-render.
Around the corner, Jimbaran is gentler on walls; across the plateau, Nusa Dua is resort country. Both pages carry their own local notes.

FAQ
Plastering in Uluwatu — FAQ
What does exterior render cost in Uluwatu?
Render + acian from IDR 78,000/m² and exterior painting from IDR 36,000/m², same as island-wide — plus an access line where materials have to be carried down by hand. We show that cost separately in the quote instead of hiding it in the rate; see pricing.
How do you get materials down to a cliff villa?
We walk the route during the site visit and count the carry. Small-batch mixing near the work, scaffold parts sized for two men on a cliff path, deliveries early before the heat. Villas above Bingin and Padang-Padang take longer than drive-up sites — we schedule that reality instead of promising coastal speed.
How often do Bukit facades need repainting?
Exposed west and south faces: every 3–5 years even with good systems — salt and UV are relentless. Sheltered courtyard walls last far longer. The paint system matters more than the brand name; we spec elastomeric or high-grade acrylics and log what we used for the next cycle.
The render on our new villa is already cracking — why?
Usually because it dried too fast: Bukit wind and sun pull water out of fresh render before it cures, leaving shrinkage cracks. We assess whether it needs cutting out or can be repaired and skimmed with reinforcement — see crack repair and why walls crack.
